Katherine Duxford
Katherine Duxford was "of West mill" in Hertfordshire when she married Thomas Richardson of Standon there on 24 August 1590. They lived at Westmill, where he was a husbandman.
Six of their children were baptized at Westmill: Elizabeth in January 1593/4, John in 1596, James in 1600, Samuel in 1602 or 1604, Margaret in 1607 and Thomas in 1608. Another son, Ezekiel, was born by about 1604, though his baptism is not in the Westmill register. Ezekiel went to Charlestown in Massachusetts in 1630. Her daughter Elizabeth, wife of Francis Wyman, was buried at Westmill on 22 June 1630, and Elizabeth's baby William four weeks later.
In March 1630/1 her husband made his will. He left her for life "my littell close of pasture called little hunnymeade cont half an acre," and all his movable goods, with both to pass to their son Samuel after her death. He called her "Katherine my now wife."
She died before him. "Catherine the wife of Thomas Richardson" was buried at Westmill on 10 March 1631/2. Her husband followed in January 1634. Her sons Samuel and Thomas joined Ezekiel in New England, and with two of her grandsons, Francis and John Wyman, the three brothers were among the founders of Woburn.
The Westmill register begins in 1550. Her own baptism and her parents are not known.
