Lucinda C. Bowen was born on 16 March 1850 in Georgia and grew up at Knob in Henry County, in the house of Solomon and Mary Bowen, with her sister Sarah, her brother Dickson and the younger Ellen and Eliza. She was nineteen when the 1870 census taker came round and still at home.

She married Douglas Alfred Puckett, called Dug, about 1875, and they stayed in the same corner of Georgia for the rest of her life, working land on both sides of the Henry and Rockdale county line. In 1880 she is in militia district 491 of Henry County with four children in the house: Henry, Ida R., John S. and James. She named a son John Solomon, after her father.

By 1900 the family was at Honey Creek in Rockdale County and there were eight children round her: John S., Beokia, Jim, Rollie, Ollie, Bab, William and Grady. Ten in all, and the youngest of them was seventeen years younger than the eldest.

She died on 19 August 1904, aged fifty four, and was buried at Scarbrough Cross Roads in Henry County. Dug outlived her by thirty one years, married again, and was carried to the same ground in 1935.
