Nell Ellen Limerick
Nell Ellen Crocker, known as Nellie, was born on 6 April 1915 at Gotebo, a small town in the wheat and cotton country of Kiowa County, in southwestern Oklahoma. She was the youngest child of George Washington Crocker (1857 to 1939) and Lucy Elzadie Wade (1876 to 1946). Her father was nearly sixty when she was born. Her brothers and sisters were Bernice, Abner Samuel, Alfred George, Lucy M. (later Cassell), John Franklin and James Allen Crocker.
Her daughter, Zada Nell Limerick, was born at Gotebo on 7 September 1931, when Nellie was sixteen, and was given her mother's name as her middle name. Zada carried the surname of Charley Will Limerick, a young man from Edom, Texas. Nellie and Charley's gravestone at Lawton gives their wedding date as 31 October 1936.
Charley made a career of the Army and won the Silver Star in Korea in 1951. The couple settled at Lawton, beside Fort Sill.
Zada died in July 1993. Nellie died five months later, on 17 December 1993, at Lawton, at the age of seventy-eight. She is buried in Highland Cemetery at Lawton, Block 59, Lot 41. Her husband was buried beside her in 2011.
