Nicholas Farley
Nicholas Warren Farley was born on 4 October 1925 in Kings Park, Suffolk County, New York. His parents were Patrick Joseph Farley (1882-1967) and Lillian Adella Conklin Farley (1893-1933). His mother died in 1933, when Nicholas was about seven.
He grew up with four older sisters: Jane Elizabeth Farley (1915-2004), Lillian Rose Farley Surles (1916-2008), Mary Cecelia Farley Murphy (1918-1976) and Christine Patricia Farley Glowth (1921-1999). He appears to have been the youngest child.
In the Second World War he served in the United States Navy. His rank was Seaman First Class, abbreviated S1: an enlisted sailor one grade above the entry ranks. His government headstone reads: "S1 / US NAVY / WORLD WAR II."
He married Georgia, who was born in 1926 and died in 2010. According to his memorial they had six children: Cathi Betancourt, Susan Walsh, Caren Skiseng, Teresa Rooney, Nickalos Farley and Laura Mars. The same account says he lived to see grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Nicholas Farley died on 30 October 2013 in Smithtown, aged 88. Branch Funeral Home in Smithtown handled the arrangements. His funeral mass was held at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. He was buried at Calverton National Cemetery in Suffolk County, in Section 34, Site 2658. His memorial says the family asked for donations to the Lustgarten Foundation of Bethpage, New York, a charity that funds pancreatic cancer research.
