Noah Hoyt
Noah Hoyt was born on 23 March 1759, a son of Nehemiah Hoyt of Stamford, Connecticut, and Ruth Peck of Greenwich. He was the eighth of at least thirteen children.
On 23 January 1782 he married Sarah Moulton, the daughter of Abel and Sarah Moulton. He farmed first at Stamford. His older brother Nehemiah had gone up to Castleton, in Rutland County, Vermont, as a young man, and by 1785 Noah and Sarah had followed him there. Their son Calvin was born at Castleton on 22 November 1785, Noah on 20 January 1788, Sarah on 9 June 1790, and Moore on 15 October 1796.
Noah died at Castleton on 13 February 1811, aged fifty-one. Sarah outlived him by forty-six years and died on 8 September 1857, "aged 90, or more". Calvin became a deacon and went back to farm at Stanwich, the part of Greenwich where his grandmother Ruth had lived. Moore took his medical degree at Middlebury College in 1821 and died at Parkersburg, Virginia, in 1860. Noah stayed at Castleton and farmed there all his life.
