Ole Aslaksen
Ole Aslaksen was baptized in Holt church on 13 November 1796, son of Aslak Knudsen and Birte Olsdatter of Joranstad, a farm in Holt parish behind Tvedestrand. He was the eldest of their six known children. The parish history of Holt calls him a skipper.
On 16 September 1822 he married Thore Oline Ellefsdatter in Holt church. Both were living at Joranstad, he twenty-five and she twenty-four. Her father, Ellev Olsen, held the largest share of the farm, and Ole's father held another. Their first child, Anne Bergitte, was baptized six months later.
They christened at least five children from the farm: Anne Bergitte in 1823, Ellef in 1824, Andreas in 1826, Ingeborg Oline in 1830 and Jens in 1835. The clerk wrote the boys Ellef Olsen, Andreas Olsen and Jens Olsen, with a patronymic made from Ole's own name. At Jens's baptism in April 1835 he was entered as Skipper Ole Aslachsen.
He died before 1865, when his widow was keeping a house of her own in Tvedestrand. Two burials of an Ole Aslaksen are indexed at Holt, in December 1853 and February 1860, and neither gives an age.
