Robert Rowan Raulerson was born on 1 December 1845 in Florida. His memorial in Seville Cemetery describes him as the son of James F. and Ruth Hull Raulerson, and marks him as a veteran. Siblings linked to him include William T., Stephen Hull, called Harry, Afrilla, James Russell, Catherine and Ruth Raulerson.

In 1866 he married Barbara Bradshaw, a native of North Carolina born the same year as he was. Six sons are linked to the couple: William David (1867 to 1946), Robert Dixon (1870 to 1940), Jacob James (1872 to 1954), Stephen Franklin (1874 to 1966), Burton Bryan (1878 to 1952) and George Washington (1884 to 1970). Jacob James was born at Seville, in Volusia County.

Robert Rowan Raulerson died in Volusia County on 16 February 1898, aged 52. He is buried in Seville Cemetery.

In 1850, aged 5, Robert was living in Wayne County, Georgia, with his parents James and Ruth Raulerson, his brothers William, 7, and Stephen, 2, two Hicks boys, Noah and Samuel, and a Martha Hull, 50, born in South Carolina.

By 1880 he had his own farm household at Seville, in Volusia County, Florida. The census that June lists Robert, 35, born in Florida, his wife Barbara, 35, born in North Carolina, and their children William, 14, Robert, 11, Jacob, 9, Stephen, 7, Noah, 4, and Bertie, 1. In 1876 a tract of public land was assessed to Robert R. Raulerson in Florida.

Robert served the Confederacy in the Civil War. He enlisted in the fall of 1862, in the service of the State of Florida. In 1864 he went home on furlough and did not go back, and he was still at home when the war ended in 1865. He married Barbara Bradshaw in Volusia County on 18 February 1866.
