Robert Trott
Robert Trott lived at South Trendle, a hamlet of Pitminster in Somerset that later became the parish of Trull. The land there belonged to the great manor of Taunton, and he held it as a customary tenant. The Treat family genealogy of 1893 makes him a son of Richard Trott and his wife Joanna.
On a manor, land changed hands by surrender. The old tenant gave it back into the lord's hands in the manor court, and the court admitted the new one. In 1571 the court at Poundisford admitted "Robert Trotte for 1 Messuage and half a virgate of Bondland, 1 Cottage with its appurtenances, and four acres of Overland in the Tything of South Trendle, late held by Hugh Hollwell, by surrender of Richard Trott." A tithing was one of the divisions of the manor. Overland was land outside the old holdings.
In the same year he took four acres of overland pasture in South Trendle by surrender of William Willes. In 1572 the house and half virgate were entered again. In 1573 he took three acres of overland called Saymore in the tithing of Blackdon by surrender of Thomas Vincent. He appears again in the manor's calendars at Poundisford in 1584 and 1591, and at Holwaye in 1577.
He married Honor. Their children were baptised at Pitminster: Alice in February 1563/4, John, Mary on 9 February 1577/8, Agnes, Tamsen, and Richard on 28 August 1584. Mary married Robert Babb in 1597, and Agnes married John Aplin in 1598.
His will was proved at Taunton in 1598 or 1599. It "has utterly perished." He was buried at Pitminster on 16 February 1599. On 4 March in the forty second year of Elizabeth, 1599/1600, the manor court admitted his son Richard to the house and half virgate, on condition that "Honora (Honour) relict of said Robert" hold it during her widowhood.
