Sarah Fisk
Sarah Fisk was born at Wenham, Massachusetts, on 15 July 1711, the eldest of the nine children of Ebenezer Fiske and his wife Elizabeth Fuller. Her father was a farmer of Wenham and from 1739 a deacon of its church. Her mother came from Salem.
Her brothers and sisters were Jonathan, born in 1713, who died unmarried in 1737; Ebenezer, 1716; Elizabeth, 1718, who married John Bradstreet of Topsfield; Jacob, 1721; Mary, 1723; William, 1726; Mercy, 1728; and Lucy, 1732. Her mother died in August 1732, when Sarah was twenty-one. Her father married again the next year.
The Fiskes had been in Wenham since its beginning. Her great-grandfather William Fiske was the town's first clerk and kept its inn, and his brother John was its first minister.
On 13 March 1733 she married Samuel Moulton of Ipswich, at Ipswich. The Wenham clerk entered it among the Fisk marriages as "Sarah, and Samuel Moulton of Ipswich." Their children were recorded at Wenham: Samuel in 1735, Elizabeth in 1736, Unis in 1739, Abel in 1741 and Reuben in 1744. Abel became a major and settled at Castleton, Vermont, with his brothers Samuel and Reuben.
By 1747 the family had moved to Connecticut. Sarah died on 4 October 1747, at thirty-six, when her youngest son was three. She was buried at Ellington, then a parish of Windsor. Her husband married again and lived thirty more years. When he died in 1777 he was buried beside her. Her father outlived her by twenty-four years and remembered her daughter in his will.
