Sarah Kendrick, called Sally, was born on 13 December 1803 in Georgia, the eldest child of Jesse Kendrick and Mary Jane Parker. Her father's will of 1839 names her as Sarah Kendrick Reaves. Her mother was a sister of Daniel Parker, the Baptist preacher, and a daughter of Elder John Parker, who was killed at Fort Parker in Texas in 1836.

The family moved through Tennessee and into north Alabama. On 1 May 1822 the clerk of the county court of Lauderdale County, Alabama, issued a license for the marriage of "Joseph Reeves and Sally Hendrick," and the two were married the next day, 2 May 1822, by a justice of the peace. The clerk recorded the return on 17 May. Sally was eighteen.

Sarah and Joseph lived in Lauderdale County until about 1845 and then moved north into Wayne County, Tennessee. Their children included Joseph Allen, born on 5 June 1834, Mary Ann, George W. and Nancy Emaline, born in 1848. In 1860 Sarah was in McNairy County, Tennessee, with her three youngest. Joseph is believed to have died during the Civil War.

In the early 1860s Sarah took most of her children to Bell County, Texas, where her brother Carroll Kendrick lived. He was a physician and preacher of the Christian Church who had come to Texas as a missionary in 1851, held camp meetings across the frontier and founded the church at Salado in 1859. In 1870 Sarah was in Bell County, living with her son George W. Reeves. Her son Joseph Allen Reaves became a preacher of the same church, and named a daughter Kendrick Elizabeth.

About 1871 Sarah moved to Milam County. She died there in January 1880, a widow of 78, of an inflammation of the bowels, and the census taker listed her among the year's deaths for Precinct 5. Her burial place is not known.
