Sarah Warner
Sarah Warner was born at Hadley in Massachusetts in May 1668, the eldest child of Isaac Warner and Sarah Boltwood. The family book of 1919 gives the day once as 2 May and once as 28 May. Her grandfather was Andrew Warner, deacon of Hartford, who had come to Cambridge in 1633 and ended his life at Hadley.
Her father moved the family north to Northfield, then a frontier settlement, and withdrew to Deerfield after King William's War. He died there in 1691, without a will.
About 1692 she married Jonathan French, born at Ipswich in 1667, and they lived at Northampton. She bore nine children between 1693 and the 1700s: Jonathan, who died at three; Sarah; Hannah; Mary; Elizabeth, on 15 November 1700; a second Jonathan; and Ebenezer, Samuel and John.
In the winter of 1713/14 her father's estate, unsettled for twenty two years, was finally divided among his twelve children, and she was paid as "Sarah Frentch." A few weeks later, on 17 February 1714, her husband died. On 6 May she presented his inventory to the court as "Sarah the Relict." She was the administratrix. She gave in the account of the estate's debts on 28 January 1724/5, and the same day the court settled the estate on her eldest surviving son, who was to pay out his brothers' and sisters' shares. The settlement was made "to the satisfaction of the wido Sarah Frentch the mother of them all."
She was alive in January 1724/5. Her death has not been found.
