She married Levi Beauregard Fetty in 1890, at sixteen, and bore at least seven children. Records give her name in at least seven forms.
Her name is SEMINETTIE. Her memorial at Point Pleasant gives it in full and records the alias the family actually used: Semie or Nettie. So the 1900 census's Nellie, the 1910 census's Simmie N., and the Nettie Meadows on her son's 1942 Ohio death certificate are three men writing down two halves of one name they had only ever heard spoken.
Her parents are named under another spelling. The 1880 census of the Hannan District, Mason County has a SEMMA N. MEADOWS, aged six, daughter, in the household of JAMES MEADOWS, 49, farming, and EMILY H., 43, with seven brothers and sisters around her.
Hannan District is the Fettys' own district. Levi Fetty senior was born in it, farmed it and died in it, and his son married the Meadows girl from four doors along. She was six years old and living in the same district as her future husband, who was thirteen.
The family moved down the river to Guyandotte in Cabell County, and her eldest, Elmer Franklin, was born there on 25 October 1892. Her mother died there in 1906.
She died before her husband. Levi's 1928 certificate records him as widowed. Her memorial gives her birth as May 1874 and her death as 1917 at Point Pleasant. The index files her burial in Hunt County, Texas, off the cemetery name Lone Oak; the original field on the same record says Point Pleasant, Mason County.
