Stella Lee Reaves
Stella Lee Reaves was born in Milam County, Texas, on 15 July 1892. She was one of the younger daughters of Joseph Allen "Jack" Reaves, a Confederate veteran, farmer and circuit preacher of the Church of Christ, and Samantha Caldonia "Donia" Johnson. She was two when her youngest sister, Artie Mae, was born on Christmas Day 1894.
Four of the Reaves girls married Cryer brothers. Stella married Luther Thomas Cryer. Her sisters Kendrick Elizabeth, Julia Agnes and Artie Mae married his brothers. When their mother died at Buckholts in 1931, at the home of the youngest, the obituary listed them together: "Mrs LT Cryer, Mrs WR Cryer, Mrs QL Cryer and Mrs W Cryer."
Stella and Luther's children were Irene Elizabeth, Bradford Allen, Edna Lillian, Wade Luther, Nelta Mae and Bennie Truman. The couple later moved to San Angelo. Luther died there in 1970. Stella died at San Angelo on 6 February 1980, aged 87, and is buried beside him at Friendship Cemetery near Davilla, in Milam County, where she was born.
