Abigail Dunbar
Abigail Dunbar was born at Hingham, Massachusetts, on 4 December 1691. She was the eldest child of Peter Dunbar and Sarah Thaxter, and a granddaughter of Robert Dunbar, "a Scotchman". Her sister Sarah was born at Weymouth in 1693, so the family had moved there by then. About 1706, when she was fourteen, they moved on to Bridgewater.
In 1711 she married Joshua Fobes of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, the man later called the first white settler in Titicut. Their children were Bethiah 1712, Hannah 1713, Joshua 1715, Mary 1717, Leah 1720, Betty 1724 and Abigail 1728. The town clerk entered three of them as children of "Joshua and Abigail". Her death is not recorded. Mitchell's note that her husband "perhaps" married again in 1754 suggests she had died by then.
Mitchell was not sure she was Peter's daughter and wrote that "she might have been sister to Peter, and not his D." Lincoln's History of Hingham lists her first among Peter's children, born 4 December 1691.
