Born on 7 June 1873 in Cherokee County, Georgia. He gave that date and that county in his own hand when he registered for the draft in Cherokee County during the First World War, and named his wife Annie R. Brookshire as the person who would always know where he was.

He married Annie R., born in July 1878, and their family runs across the censuses of 1900 to 1950 in three counties. In 1900 they are in militia district 851 of Cobb County with Albert D., born April 1898, and a small daughter the enumerator wrote down as Jamie O. By 1910 they are at Wild Cat in Cherokee County, and the household has grown: Albert, Anedd, Jessie, Howard and Joel. In 1920 they are still in Cherokee County with Jesse, Howard, Joel, Loyd, Lillian and Katie Mae. By 1940 he and Annie are in Fulton County, in Atlanta, where he is entered as Osborn H. Brookshire, and in 1950 as plain Henry Brookshire, still with Annie.

He died on 25 March 1951 in Fulton County and was buried at Atlanta. Annie outlived him by twenty two years.
