Rebecca Ann Langston was born on 21 March 1812 in Hancock County, Georgia. Her parents were Moses Langston and Lovey H. Adams, a daughter of Isaac Adams of Hancock County. Her father moved the family to Morgan County and died there about 1821, when she was nine. His will kept the property together under her mother's management until the youngest child came of age. Her mother never remarried. A family record names her brothers James and Moses and her sister Harriet, and her memorial adds a brother, Moses Green Winfield Langston, born in 1821.

She married Thomas Roderick Wright, a Virginian three years older, and bore ten children between 1833 and 1852. The family lived in Morgan County, Georgia, where Sarah Elizabeth was born in 1838, and later moved to north Louisiana near Vienna.

Thomas died in November 1854, leaving Rebecca with a house full of children, the youngest two years old. She had already buried one son, James Moses, in 1850. She kept the family together through the next ten years. Her daughters married into the neighboring families, three of them to Hintons of the Wesley Chapel community.

Rebecca Ann Wright died on 29 March 1864, in the middle of the Civil War, aged 52. She was buried beside her husband in the Douglas Cemetery. Her side of their shared marble shaft reads "Rebecca Ann, wife of Thomas R. Wright, born Mar. 21, 1812," with her death date below.
