Ursula Scott
Ursula Scott was baptised at Rattlesden, in Suffolk, England, on 14 February 1596/7. She was a daughter of Henry Scott and Martha Whatlock, who had married there in 1594. Her brother Thomas was two years older, and there was a younger brother, Roger. Her grandfather Edmund Scott had been churchwarden of the parish.
She married Richard Kimball of Rattlesden. Their son Henry was baptised in the parish church on 12 August 1615: "Henry Kemball ye sonne of Richard and Vrsula his wife." She was eighteen.
Her uncle Robert Whatlock's will of 1622 left a bequest to "my kinswoman Ursula Kemball". Her father's will of 1623 left money to four of her children: "To Abigale Kemball my grandchild twentie shillings ... to Henrie Kemball my grandchild ... to Elizabeth Kemball my grandchild ... to Richard Kemball my grandchild." That will is how the Kimball family history of 1897 identifies her. Her father was buried at Rattlesden in December 1624.
In 1634 she crossed to New England in the ship Elizabeth with Richard and their children. Her widowed mother, then sixty-six, sailed with them, and so did her brother Thomas. They lived at Watertown, where Sarah was born in 1635, and then at Ipswich, where Benjamin and Caleb were born. Her other children included John, Thomas and Martha, and Abigail, Elizabeth and Richard, who are named in her father's will. Thomas Scott settled at Ipswich too. When he died in 1654 his will named "brother Richard Kembell" one of his executors.
Richard died at Ipswich on 22 June 1675. Ursula "did not long survive him, but died the succeeding spring, March 1, 1676."
