Willard E. Heiberger
Willard E. Heiberger was born in Ohio on 14 October 1914 and grew up in Sandusky. In 1930 he was fifteen and living there with his parents, Edward Heiberger and Anna Everett, and his brothers and sisters, among them Edward, Melvin and a married sister, Mildred Mackey.
He married Florence Sharp of Sandusky. Their son Willard was born on 25 July 1933, when Willard senior was eighteen, and their daughter Patricia on 21 July 1935. In 1940 he was twenty five, heading a household in Ward 2 of Sandusky, in the east end of the city between the lake and Pipe Creek, and the family had been there since at least 1935.
By April 1950 he was thirty five and a cleaning room foreman in a steel foundry. In a foundry the cleaning room is where new castings are knocked free of sand and ground smooth. His household then held Florence, their children Willard, sixteen, Patricia, fourteen, and James, seven, and Florence's widowed father, Orta Sharp.
On 9 February 1952 his daughter Patricia married Jack H. Finley, and the same day his son Willard married Patricia Lacher in Steuben County, Indiana. Willard died in Sandusky on 10 August 1966, aged fifty one, and was buried in Oakland Cemetery and Memorial Park.
